Except The Factor was not out sprinted to the first turn, Garcia has even stated he had a hard hold of the horse from the start.

He was held off the lead by Garcia. Of course the horse fought it and did not run. He is a need the lead type. But if you honestly believe that JP's Gusto is faster than The Factor...you need to find something else to Blog about.

But I agree. One dimensional types, unless they are Seattle Slew or Affirmed, do not do well on the T/C trail. They are the last two to win the T/C, showing the freakish amount of speed, stamina and conditioning needed to win the T/C. Which is why a Pletcher or Asmussen horse will never be a T/C champ.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8711985.post-65288769931896605842011-04-17T20:41:18.488-04:002011-04-17T20:41:18.488-04:00Sounds like sour grapes.

Not that it was ever easy, but I don think a race like the BG has lost much of its lustre. Then again, back when Kee was a dirt course we had some ridiculous speed biases. Remember when stupid Sinister Minister won the dang race by 15 lengths? Overall, I don't think synthetics in and of themselves hurt the quality of racing, though I'm sure some would disagree. But they do make 'capping races like the Derby even tougher. If the stats showed they made the game safer, then they probably were worth it.

And Kurt Becker deserves his due as perhaps the most technically sound race-caller in America. He's no frills, but an absolute joy to listen to. Lastly, perhaps that Frank Miramadi guy that TVG fired could take the job from either the hack at Tampa, or the hack at Oaklawn. -jpAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8711985.post-70964411930708429532011-04-17T18:22:12.030-04:002011-04-17T18:22:12.030-04:00Horses with big reps never simply lose anymore.
