Honestly, I don't know if the horse went into shock or what, but after about 20 seconds of jumping around he just stood there with the outriders - calm as could be - with the bottom of his leg laying at a 90 angle like a sock that's a foot too long.

I haven't seen a lot of these in person, but I've never seen the track people put up a shield right on the track when the ambulance pulled up. My guess was that they euthanized him before he was even put him in the truck. Sick to your stomach stuff.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8711985.post-81947924935516994372008-02-23T20:27:00.000-05:002008-02-23T20:27:00.000-05:00Brett, it was pretty brutal too...crowd attitude h...Brett, it was pretty brutal too...crowd attitude here at GP went from fun party time to "oh my god." As I said on my blog, it took the outriders awhile to get to the horse, and it was hard to watch him hobble along.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06801414754458604594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8711985.post-30675143192396444282008-02-23T17:35:00.000-05:002008-02-23T17:35:00.000-05:00Well Dinner Guest had to be put down and Trujillo ...Well Dinner Guest had to be put down and Trujillo suffered a broken wrist. It's so hard to watch those races. Hopefully Trujillo will be OK to ride Zann today.Bretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07847114098891496678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8711985.post-90346816933848522982008-02-23T14:03:00.000-05:002008-02-23T14:03:00.000-05:00I will also be playing Zann today. He's young (something like 23) and he is an incredible turf rider. I know he stays down in Florida all year, however this last Breeders Cup with a 1st and a 3rd in two starts hopefully will get him some much deserved respect.Bretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07847114098891496678noreply@blogger.com
