- Another winner for Contessa, who, as I did point out a few days ago, has been doing well with grass runners, not usually the barn's strong suit. Tempest Storm won the second, and that's 11 grass winners in 47 starters over the last two months, some 23%. That for a barn with a 9% win rate on the surface over the last two years. That's three wins in four starts for this daughter of Malibu Moon since Contessa claimed her for Winning Move.
4th place for Joaquin Memphis at 6-1. Not a great week for Kasey K, with Mr. W.B. an absurdly wide 6th at Philly Park on Tuesday. Two in a row for the annoying Be Bullish.
The 7th scratched down to four horses, so only a $4.10 return on Sir Winston. Nice second for Yes It's The Truth, and he's definitely one to watch on the inner track for David Jacobson, who also took the 1st with End of an Era.

Alan - Toso the clear winner of Wed's 6th race at the Big A is worthy of praise.
I'm hard pressed to recall a horse making a successful maiden debut in racing so late in life. As the Daily News pointed out this 6-yr old mare actually would've been unable to start on a NYRA track just 45 days from now.
Did you see the time of that Toso race? It was more an indictment of the rest of the field than anything impressive about Toso. May they ban him and the entire field from NYRA as part of a new year's resolution in favor of better racing.
More than 1:14 was needed for 6furlongs and the final time was more than 1:22 for 6-1/2 furlongs. And he won by open lengths. It is hard to believe they all had four legs.
While I've been enjoying the AQ meet so far, I've not been able to find anyone to really love or hate on tomorrow's card. Of course, the tote will always present some value plays in fairly open fields. My only contrarian insight is that Intoxicatingbeauty, the ML chalk in the 5th, just looks like another horse in the race, not a toss, but not one of the better contenders. Hell, maybe it's just a bad ML. Of course, now that I've handicapped the whole card in advance, racing is guaranteed to get snowed out.
