- Kentucky moves to implement statewide workers compensation insurance for jockeys and exercise riders, racing against the legislative clock:  The last day to file a bill is Feb 14, but bill requests must be made by Monday.  [Courier-Journal, Louisville]  It's the second move by the industry to bolster on-track coverage since the injury at Gulfstream to jockey Gary Boulanger, who continues to improve.  Gulfstream increased its on-track coverage limit to $500,000 from $100,000 for the balance of the meet.
 - A pair of undefeated Derby hopefuls worked out Thursday morning.   Declan's Moon turned in a sharp five furlongs in :59 4/5, while Rockport Harbor went the same distance in 1:02 1/5. [Bloodhorse]

 - The first major 2 year old sale of the year, the Ocala Breeding Sales Company (OBS) select sale of 2 year olds at Calder Race Course, takes place on Tuesday.  The under-tack show, in which prospective sales horses "breeze" for the buyers, if you want to call 2 furlongs in :21.40 breezing, took place last Monday.
