The National Weather Service is supposed to inspect the damage to determine whether it was indeed a tornado which roared right down the cross street adjacent to our house in Queens. What do you think?
We have no phone nor internet at home....don't know when it will be back, so this could be the last post of the weekend. I dunno, maybe I'll update to an iPhone or something one of these days. In any event, hope everyone is safe and speak to you soon.

I just love that the entire weather world freaked out about a Hurricane 3 weeks ago that did nothing, then this tornado destroyed 100,000 trees in Queens and Brooklyn with no notice at all.
I think if it were a tornado, you would have heard it. Been through one and the old saying that it "sounded like a freight train" is true.
Wow. I saw something like this when i was a kid in Florida. Glad you're okay.
One person reported rocks flying into her open 9th floor window, so yeah, I would say it was a tornado.
I saw what appeared to be a funnel cloud in the distance heading accross the bay toward Great Neck, after it would have passed by you.
Happened with zero notice, no idea this was on its way.
Amazing there was only one fatality noted, so far.
Morning Line Odds:
Straight Line Winds: 2-1
Microburst: 3-1
Tornado: 4-1
I would fade tornado on the exchange.

My daughter reports that her ears popped as the storm went by. I've read that's supposed to be an indication of tornado. I think I'll take the 4-1.
I'll take microburst at 3-1 and wheel the other two underneath in exactas and triples. -jp
Based on my understanding a microburst and straight line wind have to run as a coupled entry.
When I flew in & out of NYC this summer, flights were delayed because of tornado warnings. When I lived in NYC, I remember being warned about all kinds of things, but never tornados.
Glad you're OK.
Glad you're okay Alan. It has been reported as a tornado and a microburst, two separate meteorological events occurring in our metropolitan area. It was the 4th tornado warning given to our city this Summer.
Speaking of tornadoes, your New York Jests are going see and experience another kind of tornado this Sunday against the Patriots. With the Jests, more is always less; less offense, less defense, less able coaching. Ah, such a qualified football team in their simple little minds! And such entertainment, I can't stop laughing when I watch them play.
There have now been 10 confirmed tornados in NYC in the last fifty years, 3 in the last two years.
