- A half hour to go until the coverage begins. It's an absolutely gorgeous fall day in New York City, just an ideal day to....
....sit in front of the TV for seven hours??
Oh well. You have to go with the weather you have, not the weather you wish you had.
The buildup on ESPN this week has been intense as promised by, so I was somewhat hasty in jumping on the network's case. I still would like to see an effort to establish the Breeders Cup as a brand and an important network property in addition to the week-long promotion blitz; but hopefully with the new Breeders Cup Challenge series, there will be an effort to do just that; as well as getting new viewers to not only watch, but be active participants.
But more on this another time. As Joe Mantegna said in David Mamet's overlooked gem Things Change, "Let's gamble." Have a great, great day.

Wow. Huge effort from Principle Secret. I think he just now crossed the finish line...
"Things Change"....love that movie.
Who said the rail @ CD is dead???
Bnak Check (whose $200 future bet on Henney Hughes at 15-1 just ran out of the you know what).
I would never knock anyone that was able to get Henny @ 15/1. Great number, as it turned out. Can't win 'em all.
Invasor. What a freaking letdown. And nice move by Sheikh Mohammed holding Discreet Cat out of the race. Really paid off.
Too bad Frankie D didn't pick up the mount. He would have given B a better ride.
I'll 2nd that comment about Discreet Cat - good move keeping the best horse in the world out of the biggest race in the world. On the bright side, is it possible that this loss reduce Bernardini's value enough that they have to bring him back to redeem himself and put his stud value back where it was?
