Notes and Stable News

- Two winners for Barclay Tagg on Thursday, giving him five winners from his last eight starters at Belmont. 8th race winner According to Plan has a nice record on grass with two wins and a second in three tries for the barn. Interesting pedigree here, as she's inbred, 5x4, to the influential broodmare Exclusive. According to Plan is by Out of Place out of an Affirmed mare, and descends from the direct distaff family of the excellent turf runner Just A Game.

- Casino Drive is entered in an allowance race at Santa Anita on Sunday.

- No go for either Just Zip It nor Rap Tale this weekend. Monday's race for the latter did not fill. As far as Just Zip It goes, the competition in both Saturday night's stakes at the Meadowlands, and Sunday's Belmont allowance have been deemed as too tough for our filly. Castle Village Farm's managing partner Steve Zorn informed the group that trainer Bill Turner learned that Sunday's race was coming up "practically graded-stakes level." So, great job there; as we know, some public partnerships might not be so cautious with their horses, especially given the chance to run in a Saturday night stakes or a weekend race at Belmont, instead taking the opportunity to solicit new clients. Castle Village always puts the welfare of its horses first, and if that constitutes free advertising for them, so be it.

Re: Casino Drive; Why is it that anyone in their right mind even entertain entering any horse into the BCC off of just three lifetime starts (inc. this Oak Tree allowance race) of which only 1 is a graded stakes race? (Peter Pan-G2)

He proved to be very nice in the Peter Pan, no question. However that was the spring and in a very weak Grade 2. To me it just seems exceedingly unfair to CD to ask him to take on a variety of proven monsters.

Anyhow know how much it will cost his connection to enter?

A lot to ask of Casino Drive no doubt, not to mention shipping halway around the world twice, but they do things differently overseas.

Money is no object for these connections.

Alan, re Zip, did they ever try the Turf?

Nice time to give it a go if all the dirt races are too deep.

No. Bill Turner says he doesn't have the "turf foot" for it. He's pretty adamant about it.

Regarding Casino Drive, I think it's insane, as you may know if you've been reading here lately. Glimmerglass raises legit concerns about the wisdom of running him in the BC, and the fairness to the animal. I can only imagine some of the stuff we'd hear if Zenyatta was entered in the Classic. Trying to find out how much it would cost to enter him.

Another interesting question, what if the race oversubscribes?

Not like he won a win and you're in race, and he doesnt have the points.

With some of the Euro's considering the classic there could be some disgruntled Americans.
