Sweet Rhapsodies

- Sonic Youth and The Feelies delivered an amazing show at Battery Park on the 4th. There's always a lot of anticipation for concerts, and always a lot that can go wrong, especially with respect to the sound system. But this had to be absolutely the most perfect and pristine audio I've ever heard at an outdoor show. Every note, vocal, bang, and clang from every individual performer and instrument was delivered cleanly and clearly, even if you weren't pressed against the stage. A Daydream Nation on the nation's birthday!

However, it was arguably only the second most inspiring musical performance of the day!

Hey Durkin, don't quit the day job!

Everyone had a good laugh over that at the Yonkers Raceway a/k/a Empire City simulcast room.

Of course, as Paul Moran noted in his blog, NYRA did absolutely nothing to publicize the call. It could certainly have gotten the track some free publicity.
