So sad...

However, I'm grateful for everything the owners did for him, including knowing when it was time to let him go.

I would be curious to know the total of his vet bills. I will not forget him!!

I still watch that Kentucky Derby performance and say he would have won the Triple Crown and won the Classic. He was the best horse this year.

I still have a win ticket from the Preakness in my wallet. I was only ever a casual bettor, more a fan than anything. Until this game starts protecting the lives of these horses, Barbaro and all the little guys that go down far too frequently in my opinion, I won't place another wager.
I cannot feel good profiting from something that puts horses' lives at such risk. Yes, it shouldn't have taken Barbaro for me to see this.
I know many people argue that what happened to Barbaro is an aberration. Not enough of one to me.

I'm not sure he would've won a Triple Crown, but he was a darn good horse, and would have been one of the most valuable sires we'd ever see. Instead, his legacy is going to be an enormous increase in track safety & maintenence, and hopefully focussing on the animal first and foremost. Here's to a great trooper.

Just heard about it. Horrible development. I wish now that he had been euthanized on the track, rather than spending the better part of a year going through all this garbage. Must've been pretty rough on the guy. RIP Barbaro.
