Quick Pick

- In the first at Belmont today, Richard Schosberg drops Victory For M'Lady sharply in class. The trainer has had a slow year thus far, with just seven winners from 77 starters. However, you may recall that he was one of the hottest trainers on the grounds around here last summer, and his 3-1-1-1 record at Belmont thus far indicates that he may be ready to break out again. This filly graduated by four in her first start for the barn at Aqueduct two races back; that contest has produced a next out winner and two seconds. She then trailed throughout in her next race, a very tough entry level allowance race. Now she goes against restricted claimers, and I think she'll really like this mile distance - she's raced well around one turn, and has shown an ability to finish up in routes. Pletcher has the morning line favorite in Rap Tale, a filly who has burned mucho dollars in the past. It is worth noting however, that Pletcher is eight for 15 over the last year with horses dropping for a tag for the first time! A side of the Toddster that we never knew!

I was hoping that Bob Baffert would point Samba Rooster to the Preakness but looks like that's a no go.

Daily Racing Form "Samba Rooster gets blinkers"

He's pointed to the Lone Star Derby instead.

Many years ago, before Pletcher became a star, I found that when he dropped a horse from MSW to MClm in its second start, it was a golden angle. So I'm not surprised to see this kind of angle emerge once again.
