Sure That's The Right Track?

- Capital Play released this artist's rendition of its vision of a racino at Aqueduct.

I think that someone must have gotten confused, because to me, this looks very much like what a racino at Belmont might look like! In fact, I find it rather comical to think that Ozone Park would ever look like this, and I think it even bolsters my argument that Belmont would be a more suitable and successful spot. A racino there could really look like this, and I still believe it's a better location both in terms of accessibility and attracting patrons with money to burn.

Capital Play and its partner Mohegan Sun was one of three bidders to make a presentation in Albany on Wednesday, with the others being Delaware North/Saratoga Racing and Gaming, and SL Green (a former Empire partner)/Hard Rock Cafe.

“The franchise will be awarded by joint agreement of the governor, the majority leader of the Senate (Joseph L. Bruno, R-Brunswick) and speaker of the Assembly (Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan),” said Morgan Hook, a spokesman for Governor David Paterson. “The governor’s office and representatives of the majority leader and speaker expect to evaluate these proposals over the next two weeks and award the franchise once the review has been completed and an agreement among the parties has been reached.” [Thoroughbred Times]
Sounds like it could all be wrapped up by Labor Day.

- By the way, I forgot to mention that Ambidaxtrous won the 7th at Belmont yesterday; she was one of the two horses I picked here, and completed a $38 double with Just Zip It. Just thought I'd mention that.

Looks like one. I think it has Polytrack.

I agree that the development should be at Belmont. Although the two tracks are really not that far apart, many Nassau and Suffolk residents will go to Belmont, but would never go to Aqueduct. That project will need to be a hot spot with Long Islanders to be successful. It will not be successful in Ozone Park.

The NIMBY problem in the greater Elmont/Floral Park area is going to be huge and probably prevent it from ever happening.
