Mushka

- New post up at Breederscup.com. For the first time, and perhaps the last, I actually picked up the phone and got some real quotes as opposed to just stealing them out of a newspaper.

Meanwhile, I looked up the extended weather forecast for Monmouth on Accuweather, and it's rather glorious. Much too early to get excited though.

And as reader Andrew pointed out, The Russian angle lives on at Belmont, where Mushka won the 4th. No secret though, and a flurry of rubles sent him off at even money.

Looks like "Run Red Run" is can't miss in the 8th despite the 12-1 morning line
odds.

Assume "Alexandros"(2nd) is Greek, not Russian?

Red Zipper(8th) should not be overlooked.

Nice job analyzing the bias issue over at the BC site. Good to see they have grown the grass. With the time off the turf should be perfect.

Hope they do not scrape the sh*t out of the dirt track Friday morning, no one cares about times.

Keep it a nice fair and for god's sake safe surface for the big day and everyone will be happy.

Know you've been busy elsewhere but no analysis of the big NY State Bred card?

Smaller fields than usual, looks like a number of legit short priced favorites (Big Truck,Factual Contender, Gold n Roses, Naught NY'er).

Best wagering race of the day is the Mohawk, wide open event of veterans (Dave, Pa PA Da) vs. 3yo's (El Basha, Spurred) vs. older strangers (Pays To Dream, Juror).

Red Zipper does not fit any of those categories but figures to be tough to run down with a favorable pace scenario.

Real interested to see if Big Truck is the Real Deal. Tagg is touting, but personally was not very impressed with his finish last out and not really bred to stretch out.

Schwartz was touting Be Bullish since the Spa, tough assignment but a very talented colt that is better bred for the mile than the favorite.
