- I wonder if Biancone will be in the interview tent? Wow, a wild finish, and this horse came from absolutely nowhere at 12-1, edging out Achill Island. Prussian, who went off the favorite for Mott, set the pace and was challenged by The Leopard. But the speed was engulfed by the closers. Prussian faded to third to last. The final time of 1:40.1 was a full second slower than the 2 yo filly stakes run earlier. Don't know if that's because the course is getting softer, or that the colts just weren't much. I remember picking this colt in his first race at Keeneland for the Special and he ran second.
Discreet Cat opened at 6-5; second longest shot is 5-1 at this time...
- We can't really hear Denman's calls here. How's he doing?

Denman is ok so far, no blown calls yet.
No major mistakes by Denman...he called Cannonball, Cannonade and Achill Island, Achill Hill -- but nothing major.
I think I saw Biancone sneak into the winner's photo, but ESPN cut away just as it looked like he moved into the frame, so I could be mistaken.
so what happened in the dirt mile???
oh, never mind. now i see the post about it. discreet cat failed again.
Denman COMPLETELY missed Maryfield until inside the sixteenth pole. It's inexcusable at this level...so, yes, that WAS a blown call
Please give me Tom Durkin back.
Trevor: "They couldn't be going any faster" - Well, how friggin fast is Dream Rush going? 21 and change and 44 flat we find out after the race is over.
He took forever to see and identify Maryfield as well. Hard to blame him though because they all looked muddy brown and they didn't use colored saddle cloths.
Trevor: "They'd have to sprout wings!" There's a new one. How about "They'd need to sprout a boat motor!"
Points to Christina Olivera who said she saw Discreet Cat schooling earlier in the week and "his coat looked dull". Nothing like the horse she saw last year.
Denman also flubbed Achill Island's name once or twice -- but more than that, I agree that he totally missed Maryfield.
Denman's been OK, I'm a Durkin partisan anyway, but outside of Cannonade/Cannonball and making me think Miraculous Miss was the outisde horse closing ground...it's a rainy day, he probably saw about as well as anyone did if they watched ESPN's feed. I mean, as long as they have Jeannine Edwards talking but rarely being heard in the rain, have her deliver a squeegee to the grandstand camera on the wire.
But Cannonade was funny. It only serves to remind me YouTube has the NYRA video of Cannonade winning the '74 Aqueduct Handicap.
