Notes - Oct 16

- Tale of Ekati worked a mile around the oval at Monmouth in 1:43 flat.

"He did everything he was supposed to do," said Tagg. "He went off pretty slow and finished good. All in all, I got what I wanted out of him. I wanted to work him around two turns." [DRF]
- Joe Bruno is not invited.

- Ginger Punch has been supplemented to the Distaff.

- Though Bloodhorse.com reported that "Several ADW's" do not have contracts with Breeders' Cup to take bets on the event, Matt Hegarty in the Form writes:
Breeders' Cup Ltd. does not currently have a signed simulcasting contract with a single major account-wagering operator in the U.S., the Breeders' Cup and account-wagering companies acknowledged on Tuesday.
.....
The account-wagering companies that do not have a contract include Television Games Network, XpressBet, Youbet.com, Twinspires.com, and the AmericaTab family of operations. Twinspires.com and the AmericaTab companies are owned by Churchill Downs. Last year, $11.2 million was bet on the Breeders' Cup through TVG, Youbet, and AmericaTab. [DRF]
A California law caps the ADW's revenue from bets made from that state; a spokesperson for TrackNet told Hegarty that they would lose money on those wagers. The law has been in effect since 2002, but Monmouth's takeout is high enough so as to make it a concern this year.

I'm pretty sure that the Manhattan Terrace is where I hang out at Aqueduct...third floor, facing away from the track? Lots of light, a bar with a friendly blonde bartender, tables with televisions and a bunch of big screens? Read about this party a few days ago and was bummed to think that I'll be relegated to the ghastly, dim bar on the floor below. Equestris runs an expensive buffet that day, so I guess the small players get shut out? Sheesh. Who know the Big A would go upscale?

Teresa - Yes, that's the Manhattan Terrace and that's where I hang out too. Doesn't sound like the Big A will be the best place to watch the BC this year.

OK, fine, it's a Breeders' Cup conspiracy to force us all to go down, fight the traffic, and buy over-priced bad seats. I am resisting...but I don't know for how long. I hate the Meadowlands, but maybe that's the option...other suggestions for local viewing/wagering?

Frankly, I have to be convinced to leave home on BC day; it's calm and relaxing enough, and phone/internet betting more than suffices.

Pre-entries are out!

Alan - are you going to bet the Communist Exacta today in the sixth race at Belmont. Sounds like a good hunch play for a leftie like yourself!!
